On Sunday June 24th, three of our member clubs traveled to Whitwick in Leicestershire for the Simon Coope Karate Championships. Members of the East Hull Karate Club, the Chikara Dojo and the Hull Zanshin Dojo were in attendance, with John Moreton and Steve Balaam-Reed doing the coaching for the day. This particular competition is a new one to our list of events, but it was decided to attend to assess it for the future. Although a little chaotic at the beginning of the day, things did get going and seemed to progress acceptably as the day went on.

The group managed some excellent results, as can be seen below on the medal table. By the end of the day they had won 8 Gold medals, 2 Silver medals and 8 Bronze medals. Among the more notable results was the clean sweep in the 10-11 years Kata division. Another remarkable achievement was the gold medals for both the Girls and Boys teams which we entered.

Everyone in attendance should be proud of the medal haul which helps to put Wado UK on the map. Well done everyone.
